We added an easily removable magnetic lid on hp sprocket Gen II. This made it easier and faster to load media. Nathan Shirley, Cecillie Peterson and others created many lid pattern options that were AR recognizable. The easy change lid also opened the possibility to create custom lids for partners like Disney. The Guardians of the Galaxy and Groot lid was one proposal. Just an early concept and gif file I created in Maya for a demo pitch. Although I was the design Lead for Gen 1 of hp sprocket, sprocket plus, sprocket camera, and sprocket studio, Nathan Shirley took over as lead for Gen II while I worked on home-consumer desktop printers, we worked on each other projects in a support and supplemental role.
