KIDS PRINTER DESIGN
A Barbie Branded Printer + early imagery and rerendered shots
The Barbie Movie is coming out this month, so I had to share a few of my early concept images and a video for a Barbie Branded Printer (co-branded Mattel and Hewlett-Packard subsidiary Apollo.… Also production unit photos.
My CAD and images are dated 1999, but I believe this introduced in 2002 for $79… I only worked on initial concepts while I was working on HP DeskJet products.
Video made from my original CAD + Keyshot, and particle-glitter effects in AfterEffects!
From Hewlett-Packard Archives: As computer technology became more pervasive, especially in schools and homes, the consumer demand for printers began to include kids. Seeing an opportunity in the market, Hewlett-Packard partnered with Mattel, Inc. to introduce this HP Apollo P1220 color Inkjet that incorporated Barbie branding and color schemes.
“The Barbie printer provides a simple, fun, and affordable way for girls to express their creativity by giving them the technology they need to print colorful creations,” said Mohan Garde, Apollo’s general manager in a statement.
